MİLET EPİGRAFİ PROJESİ (UHH / DFG)
The research on the inscriptions of Miletus has a long tradition in Hamburg, as Prof. Peter Herrmann was responsible for the material until his death. He published the seminal editions in the series I.Miletus, more recently together with Prof. Norbert Ehrhardt, University of Münster, and Prof. Wolfgang Günther, University of Munich. Since 2021, Prof. Kaja Harter-Uibopuu, UHH, has joined the team. After initial studies in 2021, the first campaign in September 2023 is dedicated to inventorying in the stone depot of the excavation, in the museum of Miletus and at various sites in the field. The impression collection, located at the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy, Inscriptiones Graecae, of Sciences and Humanities, will be completed, and digital photographs will also be taken. The documentation will be placed in a database so that the information can be made available in the future through both the excavations own database and the Hamburg Database on Ancient Asia Minor. New finds will be recorded and published regularly. Information panels will enable the visitors of Miletos in future to access the exciting texts.
